One thing that might be of interest is the situation we had with an internal newsletter that is send around. Around 500 people receive this email but they had several problems in managing the archives for this newsletter. Most of the people receiving the email, archived them in a Personal folder in Outlook and if we checked the shared drives, you would find a lot of PST files holding the same information. I used Wordpress to create a blog and installed a mailing list plugin. The main behavior of the people is still the same, people receive the email and read them in their email. But after a month I saw the stats move a bit and people started to use the blog website, browsing searching. The mailing plugin doesn not send along PDF documents as atachments but instead sends a link to the document. When an attachment is needed for the newsletter, people are gently forced to have a quick look at the website. The maillig list/blog is not integrated into the intranet, but I am listing the last 10 entries on the frontpage of the intranet trying to encourage people to have a look at the website and to subscribe. Wordpress provides Atom feeds and I used this feed to grab the first 10 items and displayed them on the frontpage of the intranet. I tried to push xml feeds, but that is too complicated. People are not ready yet to go to the next level, they prefer to stick to their email app. And there are not a lot of simple solutions for grabbing feeds behind a corporate firewall. Regards/Len. Actually, apart from the primary purpose of sharing knowledge within our field, the EuroIA conference also would like to offer companies and candidates to meet each other. For this purpose we'll start this year with a bulletin board, where anyone can staple, glue-tag, sticky-tape their job opportunities during the conference (A4-sizish). If you're a company that would like more exposure it's also possible to get a table where you can present yourself. cheers, reinoud bosman euroia.org On 31-08-2006 16:08, "Malin Olsson" wrote: > Hi, > > I can?t recall seeing any job postings here, but I hope it is ok to use the > list for this purpose as well. And thank's to the generous hosts. I'll be there for sure. Probably before 19:00. One has to eat, and the menu looks ok. Anyone else for dinner at Barist? Or do you have an other/better suggestion? I was wondering if anyone had plans for dinning out Saturday? If so, could I gate-crash? See you all. The organizing committee plans to meet late in the afternoon for a quick get-together (and possibly some last-minute organizational shopping) but will travel to Barist in time. Feel free to look for us in the hotel/conference room around 5:30 to see if we can have a bite together. For other suggestions, see below for a list compiled by an American who visited Berlin last year. It was sent around when Design Engaged hit Berlin last November. But I'm sure we'll have some Berliners amongst our group to guide us to interesting places... > I was wondering if anyone had plans for dinning out Saturday? If so, > could I gate-crash? Jules Verne (Schluterstr 61; (030) 31-80-94-10). I had great lamb chops but went back twice for the strudel filled with spinach and goat cheese dipped in a red beet sauce. Furusato (Leibnizstr 35; (030) 3-13-75-75). Absolutely excellent sushi. It's about two blocks away from the Jules Verne. Eiffel (Kurfurstendamm 105; (030) 891-13-05). You must try the gurkensuppe and the lammhufsteak. I also had a chocolate mousse that comes with a sort of miniature baked Alaska and a few slices of mandarin orange and strawberry. Schildkrote (Kurfurstendamm 212; (030) 8-81-67-70). The place to go for traditional German food -- roast pork, mashed potatoes, etc. Die Zwolf Apostel (Georgenstr. 2, more or less across from the Pergamon Museum; (030) 201-02-22; several other locations). Great place for pizza and drinks before or after the museum. Wellenstein (Kurfurstendamm 190; (030) 881-78-50). Great place for drinks, then cross the street to an Einstein Kaffee for the best coffee.
